Diagnostics firm Orange Health Labs is preparing to enter the radiology sector as part of a broader expansion beyond its core pathology business. According to Co-Founder Dhruv Gupta, the strategic move is aimed at capturing rising demand for specialised and preventive healthcare testing.
The expansion into radiology is scheduled to take place within the next few quarters. Gupta noted that consumers are increasingly looking beyond traditional blood tests to include radiology for both prescriptive and preventive healthcare needs. Currently, Orange Health offers a portfolio of nearly 2,000 tests.
The company's planned entry into adjacent categories aligns with broader trends in India's diagnostics industry. According to data from ICRA, the organised diagnostics segment is estimated to have grown by over 15 percent in FY26, supported by higher health awareness, preventive screening, and the adoption of advanced diagnostics.
Orange Health's upcoming expansion follows a period of strong financial performance. The company reported that its revenue increased by approximately 65 percent to exceed ₹130 crore in FY26. Over recent years, the firm has consistently maintained annual revenue growth between 60 percent and 90 percent. Gupta attributed this growth trajectory to geographic expansion into new markets, deeper penetration in existing cities, category additions, and a rising consumer preference for at-home diagnostic services.
Alongside its service expansion, Orange Health is actively scaling its physical retail infrastructure. The company's retail network expanded from 10 to 15 stores up to approximately 75 locations by the end of FY25. Retail centers typically achieve operational break-even within three to seven months of launch.
Despite the physical rollout, at-home testing remains the primary operational channel for the company. In Bengaluru, at-home services account for roughly 85 percent of the business volume. Moving forward, the company anticipates that the business mix will gradually adjust to an 80:20 or 75:25 ratio between at-home and retail services over the next four to six quarters.
On the financial front, Orange Health has moved closer to full profitability. The company reached operational profitability at the end of March 2026, with individual city operations successfully covering their local costs. Management is now targeting company-wide profitability over the next two years.
"Orange Health Labs' planned entry into radiology reflects a strategic shift towards comprehensive healthcare solutions as consumer demand for preventive testing grows. By combining a strong at-home service model with a growing physical retail footprint, the company is effectively capturing market share in the organized diagnostics sector. Achieving operational profitability in key city markets is a positive indicator of sustainable unit economics, positioning the firm well as it targets company-level profitability over the next two years." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
