Prime Minister Narendra Modi Arrives in Uzbekistan for Strategic Bilateral Talks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Uzbekistan on Saturday for a two-day official visit, marking his fourth visit to the nation. Upon his arrival at the airport, he was received by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

This visit forms the first leg of a two-nation tour that also includes the Kyrgyz Republic, aimed at strengthening India's strategic partnerships and civilisational connections in Central Asia.

During his stay in Tashkent, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to hold delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev. The discussions will focus on expanding cooperation in key areas, including trade, investment, digital connectivity, defence, and energy sectors.

In his departure statement, the Prime Minister highlighted the objective of advancing shared visions, stating his anticipation for discussions on deepening cooperation and aligning the visions of 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Yangi Uzbekistan'.

As part of his schedule in Tashkent, Modi will also visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies to honour the cultural and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Following his engagements in Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister will travel to Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic. There, he will participate in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit at the invitation of President Sadyr Zhaparov.
