Renewable energy platform AltEons Energy has secured an undisclosed investment from The Sanmar Group in exchange for a majority stake in the company. The funding aims to support the development of over 1.5 GW of renewable energy projects across India, catering to Corporate and Industrial (C&I) customers seeking to advance their decarbonisation goals.
Founded by Srinivasan Viswanathan, AltEons builds an integrated renewable energy platform that combines solar, wind, energy storage, and advanced energy management solutions. The platform is designed to provide Round-the-Clock (RTC) clean power to C&I consumers operating in sectors such as manufacturing, automotive, data centres, and industrial engineering.
Currently, the company is developing a 210 MW hybrid portfolio in Maharashtra, which includes wind, solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This portfolio is intended to meet the growing energy demands of energy-intensive businesses within the state.
Srinivasan Viswanathan, Founder and CEO of AltEons Energy, stated that the newly secured capital will be directed towards establishing the next round of an 800 MW pipeline by the end of the year. He noted that the partnership with Sanmar provides both financial backing and strategic trust needed to scale operations and deliver on the target of developing over 1.5 GW of RTC renewable energy projects.
Commenting on the investment, Vijay Sankar, Chairman of The Sanmar Group, highlighted the platform's focus on addressing challenges in the energy transition. He noted that AltEons' leadership, execution capabilities, and approach to delivering reliable renewable power at scale position the company well within India's renewable energy sector.
As industrial consumers face increasing pressure to meet Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments, platforms offering structured, long-term sustainable energy solutions continue to draw institutional backing and strategic corporate investments in the Indian market.
"The strategic investment by The Sanmar Group into AltEons Energy highlights the growing institutional focus on structured decarbonisation solutions for industrial consumers in India. By securing a majority stake to fund large-scale Round-the-Clock renewable projects, this partnership reflects a capital-intensive approach required in the clean energy sector. For startups operating in capital-heavy domains like renewable energy, aligning with established industrial groups provides both the financial runway and the operational credibility necessary to scale effectively." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
