Spanish fashion retailer Mango is reporting rapid growth in India, driven by its partnership with Myntra. The brand plans to expand its physical footprint with larger stores and scale up new categories such as teens' apparel and fragrances.

Spanish fashion retailer Mango has identified India as one of its most promising markets, noting that the country is fast becoming an integral part of its global fashion launch cycle. The development comes as India's retail market experiences a rise in premiumisation and a stronger consumer appetite for international brands.

Mango first entered the Indian market in 2001. A significant turning point for the brand's expansion came in 2017 when Myntra's wholesale entity, Myntra Jabong India Pvt Ltd, secured the master franchise rights for Mango in the country. Currently, online and offline channels contribute equally to the brand's business in India.

Daniel López García, Chief Commercial Officer and Board Member at Mango, stated that the brand has found the right product-market fit in India. He noted that the company is aiming to provide Indian consumers with the same value proposition and creativity delivered globally.

At present, Mango is available through 76 points of sale in India, which includes 42 exclusive brand outlets alongside shop-in-shop formats. Venu Nair, Chief of Strategic Partnerships and Omnichannel, SVP at Myntra, stated that the scaling up of exclusive brand outlets will continue at a steady pace. According to Nair, the current strategy focuses on expanding through exclusive outlets rather than shop-in-shop formats, while also increasing store sizes to offer a fuller customer experience.

The offline business is also supported by M-Now, which aids in driving repeat purchases. Additionally, Mango's product assortment in India remains closely aligned with its global fashion trend cycle. The brand introduces new collections every three weeks, making them available in India within a short timeframe. For instance, India was among five global markets selected to launch the Hailey Bieber Summer 2026 collection.

Mango has also introduced new categories in the Indian market over recent months, including Mango MNG for Teens and Mango fragrances. Leadership noted plans to expand these new categories multi-fold to deepen the brand's presence and engage new consumer segments for future growth.

"The growth of international fashion brands in India highlights the evolving nature of the country's retail sector, particularly the demand for premium offerings. Mango's partnership with Myntra demonstrates how global brands can successfully scale by combining local franchise expertise with a strong omnichannel distribution model. Focusing on exclusive outlets, larger store formats, and localized inventory cycles allows brands to capture shifting consumer preferences effectively." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
