State-run supply chain company Supplyco has crossed ₹207 crore in sales during the ongoing Onam season in Kerala, according to official figures released on Thursday. The data covers the period from August 1 to noon on August 19.
During these 19 days, around 26 lakh customers visited Supplyco outlets and special fairs across the state. The total turnover comprises ₹72 crore from the sale of subsidised items and ₹135 crore from non-subsidised products.
Special Onam fairs organised across various districts contributed approximately ₹2 crore to the overall turnover. Mega trade fairs held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, and Ernakulam also contributed to the figures. Among these mega events, the highest turnover was recorded at the Kozhikode Beach fair, registering sales of ₹32 lakh. Meanwhile, the mega trade fair that commenced at Nayanar Park, Putharikandam, in Thiruvananthapuram on August 13 recorded a turnover of ₹30 lakh.
In addition to retail sales, Supplyco has been involved in the distribution of free food kits to beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY). Out of the total six lakh kits scheduled for free distribution, 4,32,000 have already been delivered to ration shops. Officials stated that all remaining kits would be made available at ration shops by August 20. Thiruonam falls on August 26 this year.
Supplyco operates as a self-sufficient state-run entity with the objective of regulating the market prices of essential commodities and ensuring food security within the state.
