Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Criticizes Centre Over Denied US Tour Permission

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has publicly criticized the central government following the denial of permission for his scheduled official visit to the United States. Addressing a press conference at the Telangana Secretariat in Hyderabad, Reddy termed the decision as 'politically motivated' and detrimental to the state's overall progress.

Reddy cut short his ongoing foreign trip, returning from the United Kingdom after the Ministry of External Affairs refused clearance for the US leg of his tour. According to the Chief Minister, the visit was intended to forge institutional collaborations with US universities in the fields of education and sports, as well as to engage with potential investors to attract capital to the state.

The state government had submitted comprehensive details regarding the delegation's itinerary to the Ministry of External Affairs. However, Reddy stated that the ministry rejected the tour citing political considerations. Drawing comparisons, the Chief Minister alleged a double standard, pointing out that similar permission was granted for the Gujarat Chief Minister's 'Vibrant Gujarat' tour to America and Canada, whereas his planned delegation under the 'Telangana Rising 2047' initiative was obstructed.

Reddy demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly disclose the specific political reasons behind the denial of permission for the state delegation. He alleged that the Prime Minister was adopting a biased attitude toward Telangana and attempting to stall the region's economic growth. Furthermore, Reddy announced that state Members of Parliament intend to raise the matter in Parliament.

Despite the setback regarding the US tour, the Chief Minister maintained that state development objectives remain unaffected. He confirmed that the state government will proceed with organizing the 'Telangana Global Summit 2026' under the aegis of 'Invest Telangana', scheduled for December 8 and 9.
