Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy outlines an ambitious global growth agenda during his Independence Day address, highlighting ₹1.29 lakh crore in TG-iPASS investments, major IT and GCC expansions, and a massive infrastructure push featuring the Regional Ring Road and Metro Phase-2.

HYDERABAD: Positioning itself not merely to compete with other Indian states but with the world, the Telangana government has placed industrial expansion, strategic investments, infrastructure development, and large-scale job creation at the core of its economic agenda. Delivering his 80th Independence Day address at the historic Golconda Fort, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy unveiled a comprehensive roadmap aimed at cementing the state's status as a premier global business and technology hub.

According to the Chief Minister, the state has successfully secured ₹1.29 lakh crore in investments through the single-window TG-iPASS system, a phenomenal economic feat projected to generate upwards of 78,000 direct jobs. Building on this momentum, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth a staggering ₹5.75 lakh crore were inked during the Telangana Rising Global Summit-2025. The state administration plans to host the global summit again this year to further showcase Telangana’s lucrative investment propositions to international private equity players, venture capitalists, and multinational corporations.

Telangana is aggressively targeting high-growth sunrise sectors to future-proof its economy. The newly introduced Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy-2026 is designed to propel the state into the upper echelon of global life sciences clusters. Concurrently, the government is aggressively pursuing high-tech manufacturing opportunities in semiconductors, electronics, and advanced engineering. To optimize urban land use and environmental standards, the Hyderabad Industrial Lands Transformation Policy (HILT Policy-2025) has been enacted to reorganize legacy industrial pockets, curb pollution, and facilitate seamless industrial relocation.

The state's global technology footprint continues to scale unprecedented heights. IT exports soared to ₹3.97 lakh crore during the 2025-26 fiscal year, while direct IT employment scaled to an impressive 12.14 lakh professionals. Hyderabad has firmly established itself as a preferred destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs). Over 355 GCCs currently operate out of the city, with 40 new GCCs launched in 2026 alone. Furthermore, the state is rapidly morphing into a powerhouse for data centres, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. Bolstering this trajectory, tech giant Amazon announced an additional $7 billion investment in Telangana, while a massive hyperscale, AI-ready cloud infrastructure campus is currently under development across the Bharat Future City and Chandanvelly zones.

To support this exponential economic growth, the government has launched a monumental infrastructure overhaul aimed at fortifying road, rail, air, and logistics connectivity. A flagship 360-kilometre Regional Ring Road is under development to encircle Hyderabad, complemented by 6,092 kilometres of arterial roadways being advanced through the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). In the urban transit segment, Metro Rail Phase-2 outlines an ambitious expansion of 122.9 kilometres across seven distinct corridors to ease commuter congestion and streamline transit.

Aviation infrastructure is also receiving a vital boost, with the revival of the Mamunoor Airport and the establishment of a joint-use airfield in Adilabad prioritized to spur regional economic integration. By seamlessly integrating robust physical infrastructure with progressive industrial policies, Telangana is systematically engineering an ecosystem capable of competing head-to-head with the world's leading economic zones.

"Telangana’s proactive policy framework and relentless focus on future-ready sectors like artificial intelligence, life sciences, and advanced electronics set a stellar benchmark for regional economic development in India. By securing massive global commitments such as the ₹5.75 lakh crore investment pipeline and fostering a thriving ecosystem of over 355 Global Capability Centres, Hyderabad has officially transitioned from a regional tech hub to a globally formidable economic powerhouse. For venture capitalists, private equity firms, and global enterprises looking to scale operations, Telangana offers an unmatched blend of robust physical infrastructure, progressive administrative reforms, and a deep talent pool that guarantees long-term, high-yield business growth." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
