Telangana Outlines Clean Energy Targets and Investor Incentives at Energy Summit

Telangana is positioning itself as an investment destination for clean energy manufacturing, according to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Speaking on Tuesday at the inauguration of the two-day India Energy Summit & Expo 2026 in Hyderabad, he invited industrialists, investors, innovators, scientists, CEOs, and technology experts to participate in the state's growth.

Addressing the attendees at HITEX and Novotel, Bhatti stated that the shift in the energy sector involves a broader transformation of the economy rather than just changing electricity generation sources. The government's objective is to establish Telangana as a consumer of clean energy and a manufacturing and technology hub that supplies solutions to the global clean-energy industry.

As part of its growth plans to meet rising electricity demand while protecting the environment, Telangana aims to increase its solar power capacity to 20,000 MW by 2030 and exceed 26,000 MW by 2035. The state is also focusing on large-scale energy storage to integrate renewable power into the grid. Through battery energy storage and pumped-storage projects, the state plans to achieve 3,800 MW of storage capacity by 2030 and 8,000 MW by 2035.

The government intends to leverage Hyderabad’s strengths in information technology and artificial intelligence to transform the future power grid into a digitally managed network. A dedicated 100-MW renewable energy plant is being linked to the proposed AI data centre in Bharat Future City, according to the Deputy Chief Minister.

Additionally, the state has set targets to produce 400,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030 and establish 12,000 electric-vehicle charging stations by 2035. To support these initiatives, the government is offering various incentives to companies manufacturing solar, wind, and battery-related products in the state.

These incentives include capital assistance, State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) reimbursement, electricity-duty exemptions, and expedited approvals through the TG-iPASS system. Bhatti emphasized that achieving this proposed energy transition requires close cooperation between the government and the private sector, calling upon industrialists to partner with Telangana in this initiative.
