Tesla has installed 20 Superchargers across India and launched its seventh service centre and body shop in Ahmedabad. The company is scaling its after-sales footprint and financing options as it delivers vehicles across 21 states.

Electric vehicle maker Tesla has installed 20 Superchargers in India and expanded its physical footprint with the opening of a new Tesla-Approved Body Shop in Ahmedabad. The development marks the company's seventh service and body shop facility in the country, adding to existing locations in Gurgaon, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, and Mumbai.

Speaking on the sidelines of the facility's opening, Tesla India Country Head Sharad Agarwal stated that the company is actively building out its charging and service infrastructure in major Indian cities. The newly opened Ahmedabad facility will offer local collision repair and body shop services using genuine Tesla parts and trained technicians, catering to vehicle owners in Gujarat.

According to Agarwal, Tesla vehicles require minimal scheduled maintenance, with a significant portion of service diagnostics handled remotely through 24/7 assistance. However, the company is continuing to invest in its physical service network to support customer confidence as the Indian electric vehicle market develops.

Alongside its service network expansion, Tesla currently operates five experience centres located in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Gurgaon. The company offers two variants of the Model Y in India: the Model Y RWD, priced at ₹51.89 lakh, and the Model YL, priced at ₹61.99 lakh.

To support sales, Tesla has introduced a financing programme through partnership channels, enabling buyers to purchase a vehicle with a down payment of ₹6 lakh and monthly installments starting at ₹39,990. Operating through a direct-to-consumer sales model, the company allows customers to order vehicles online from any location in India. Agarwal noted that Tesla has already completed deliveries to customers across 21 states.

"Tesla's strategic expansion into Tier-2 markets like Ahmedabad, alongside structured financing options, highlights the importance of localized infrastructure for high-value consumer brands entering India. Building robust after-sales support and charging networks is critical for consumer trust and long-term market penetration in the evolving electric vehicle segment." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
