West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Monday that a major project worth approximately ₹6,000 crore at Haldia Petrochemicals will be officially inaugurated on October 14, just ahead of the Durga Puja festival. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the state secretariat.
Alongside the Haldia Petrochemicals development, Adhikari stated that an L&T project is scheduled to be inaugurated at the state's Silicon Valley hub on August 27. The chief minister highlighted that the state continues to see investments flowing into the private healthcare sector alongside other industrial developments, with multiple projects currently in the pipeline.
During the same press briefing, the state administration also announced an upward revision of financial assistance for journalists within the state. According to the announcement, 154 journalists who previously received a monthly financial assistance of up to ₹2,000 will now be eligible to receive up to ₹5,000 per month. Furthermore, the state government has arranged healthcare services for journalists.
"Large-scale industrial investments such as the ₹6,000-crore Haldia Petrochemicals project and infrastructure developments by companies like L&T play a crucial role in strengthening the regional economic ecosystem. For businesses and entrepreneurs operating in the region, such heavy capital deployments signal improved industrial capacity, enhanced supply chain reliability, and broader commercial opportunities across related sectors." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
