Singapore-based August Energy and Indian firm Energeia have formed a partnership to establish a $100 million energy-efficiency infrastructure platform named August Energeia. The platform aims to fund and deliver decarbonisation solutions for commercial and industrial facilities across India without requiring upfront capital from customers.

Singapore-based August Energy and Indian energy efficiency company Energeia have announced a partnership to create a $100 million energy-efficiency infrastructure platform called August Energeia. The platform is designed to fund and deliver energy efficiency infrastructure projects, focusing particularly on cooling as a service (CaaS) for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers across India.

According to the official statement, the collaboration combines August Energy's strengths in capital, techno-commercial structuring, and business development with Energeia's expertise in energy audits, engineering execution, and on-ground sales. The initiative aims to address a primary barrier to industrial decarbonisation: the substantial upfront capital required to modernise energy infrastructure.

Operating under an Energy-as-a-Service model, the platform will enable factories and commercial buildings to upgrade energy-intensive systems. These include cooling, heating, steam, compressed air, fuel switching, and motor-driven systems. Additionally, the platform will facilitate August Energy-led deployment of renewable energy across solar, wind, and storage without demanding initial capital investments from the facility owners.

Under the operational framework, August Energeia will finance, implement, and manage the energy infrastructure. Project economics will be directly linked to the performance and energy savings delivered to the clients.

The target sectors for the platform include energy-intensive industries such as pharmaceuticals, automotive, food and beverage, chemicals, cement, steel, hospitality, healthcare, data centres, real estate investment trusts (REITs), and commercial real estate.

Sookrit Malik, Co-Founder and CEO of Energeia, noted that shifting the financial model from high-risk capital expenditure to predictable, performance-linked operational expenditure removes upfront friction, allowing the venture to deliver outcomes rather than merely selling products.

Vishal Jain, Co-founder and Head of India at August Energy, stated that energy infrastructure should increasingly be consumed as a service. Under this approach, investment, technology, and performance responsibilities remain with specialist operators, enabling customers to direct their capital toward core business growth.

"The partnership between August Energy and Energeia highlights a practical shift in how commercial and industrial sectors approach sustainability. By removing the burden of upfront capital expenditure through an Energy-as-a-Service model, this $100 million platform addresses a major operational hurdle for Indian businesses. For entrepreneurs and enterprises in energy-intensive industries, aligning sustainability with performance-linked operational costs is a viable way to adopt green infrastructure without straining balance sheets." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
