Bajaj Auto has expanded its motorcycle lineup with the launch of the Pulsar N 160 SS, priced at ₹1.43 lakh ex-showroom. The new model features an oversquare engine, a four-valve head, and updated technological configurations to compete in the 160cc segment.

Bajaj Auto has officially introduced the Pulsar N 160 SS to the market, priced at ₹1.43 lakh ex-showroom. Nearing 25 years since the nameplate's inception, the latest iteration continues the brand's legacy by adopting an oversquare engine configuration paired with a four-valve head.

Designed to compete directly against models like the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, the N 160 SS comes equipped with several hardware updates. These include an upside-down fork, strong brakes, a 151-kg kerb weight, and a split seat configuration. The motorcycle is available in multiple color options, including white, blue, and black.

On the technology front, the N 160 SS features a TFT dash with connectivity features, phone mirroring capabilities for Google Maps, an electronic throttle body, and four distinct ride modes. According to the company's testing metrics, the bike records a 0-60-kph acceleration time of 4.5 seconds. Its performance delivery includes a strong mid-range, a minor lull around 5,500 rpm, and a steady pull to its top speed.

Ergonomically, the motorcycle features a sporty rider's triangle paired with a tall handlebar, designed to function as an urban commuter. The suspension setup provides a balance of mild stiffness over uneven surfaces while maintaining overall stability and cornering capability.

Priced at ₹1.43 lakh ex-showroom, the Pulsar N 160 SS does not undercut its primary market rivals. However, the manufacturer has positioned its performance metrics and accompanying component kit to align with the price point for buyers in the segment.

"The launch of the Pulsar N 160 SS at a competitive price point of ₹1.43 lakh reflects Bajaj Auto's strategy to maintain its market share in the heavily contested 160cc motorcycle segment. By upgrading the vehicle with modern technological configurations, connectivity features, and refined engine architecture, the company is actively addressing the evolving preferences of younger consumer demographics. Product evolution remains a core driver for sustained demand in the mature automotive sector." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
