Bharat Electronics Limited shares climbed 3.13 per cent to trade at ₹392 on the NSE following strong first-half financial results. Multiple brokerages have maintained positive calls on the defence PSU, citing large order wins and upcoming pipeline opportunities.

Shares of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) rose 3.13 per cent to trade at ₹392 on the National Stock Exchange around midday on Wednesday. The uptick follows the defence public sector undertaking's strong first-half financial results released last week, prompting five major brokerages to maintain buy or add ratings.

The stock has experienced a sharp recovery after hitting a 52-week low of ₹354.55 on October 23. Over the past week, BEL shares gained 7.8 per cent, outpacing the Nifty 50's 4.69 per cent return during the same period. By mid-session, traded volume reached 131.96 lakh shares, amounting to a total value of ₹513.51 crore.

Financial institutions have outlined varying targets for the stock. Nomura holds the most bullish target at ₹530, highlighting large order wins across multiple verticals and noting that BEL is on track to meet its fiscal year 2027 order intake target of at least ₹55,000 crore. Citi and UBS issued buy targets of ₹515 and ₹500, respectively, pointing to a potential ₹30,000 crore Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) order and an over ₹20,000 crore Next Generation Corvette electronics opportunity as near-term catalysts. Jefferies set a target of ₹490, expecting the QRSAM award by March 2027 and identifying missiles and drones as long-term growth levers. Meanwhile, Kotak maintained a more conservative add rating with a target of ₹420.

The company's financial performance for the first half of fiscal year 2027, released on October 30, reported revenue from operations at ₹12,824 crore, representing a 25.97 per cent increase compared to ₹5,764 crore recorded during the same period a year ago. Profit after tax for the first half rose by 14.81 per cent to ₹2,589 crore. As of October 1, 2026, BEL's total order book stood at ₹68,717 crore.

At its current trading levels, BEL stock trades at a price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple of 43.41x. Brokerages have projected potential upside ranging from 7 per cent to 35 per cent. However, market activity indicates that the sell side of the order book remains dominant at 63 per cent, pointing to continued investor caution in the near term.

"Bharat Electronics Limited's recent performance demonstrates how strong financial execution and a robust order book can support market confidence in public sector enterprises. With a clear pipeline of multi-thousand-crore defence orders and consistent revenue growth, BEL is well-positioned in the capital goods sector. However, investors should carefully balance these long-term order prospects against current valuation multiples and near-term market sentiment indicators." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
