Realty firm Embassy Developments Ltd has reported a consolidated net loss of ₹271.2 crore for the quarter ended September, driven by lower income. In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the company had posted a net loss of ₹152.61 crore.

According to a regulatory filing released on Tuesday, the company's total income fell to ₹311.17 crore during the second quarter of the current financial year. This compares to a total income of ₹536.9 crore recorded in the same period of the preceding year.

For the first six months of the current fiscal year, covering the April-September period, Embassy Developments posted a cumulative net loss of ₹505.6 crore. In the year-ago period, the company's net loss for the first half stood at ₹318.26 crore.

Total income for the April-September period also experienced a significant decline, dropping to ₹552.45 crore. During the corresponding period of the previous financial year, the company had reported a total income of ₹1,230.95 crore.

Embassy Developments Ltd operates as one of the prominent real estate developers in the country. The company maintains a commercial and residential presence across key urban markets, including Bengaluru, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Delhi-NCR, Chennai, and Indore.

The developer operates as a part of the broader Embassy Group, which has a reported track record of delivering over 100 million square feet of real estate spaces across various asset classes.

"The financial results from Embassy Developments indicate a challenging period for top-tier real estate players, primarily driven by a sharp contraction in quarterly income. When major developers experience widening net losses and a steep drop in six-month revenue, it highlights the cyclical nature of the real estate sector and the importance of liquidity management and execution timelines. For businesses operating in capital-intensive industries, maintaining operational efficiency during periods of lower income is critical to stabilizing long-term balance sheets." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
