Bayer CropScience Limited announced its financial results for the second quarter of FY27, registering a 9 percent increase in net profit to ₹166.2 crore despite a 19 percent decline in operating revenue. The company also declared an interim dividend of ₹90 per equity share.

Bayer CropScience Limited (BSCL) has released its financial performance for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026, reporting a 9 per cent increase in net profit at ₹166.2 crore. This compares to a net profit of ₹152.7 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

The growth in bottom-line figures was achieved despite a dip in revenue from operations. Revenues for the quarter declined by 19 per cent to ₹1250.7 crore, down from ₹1553.4 crore in the same period last year. Meanwhile, profit before tax (PBT) grew by 6 per cent to stand at ₹211.4 crore, compared to ₹200.3 crore previously.

For the first half (H1) ending September 30, 2026, BCSL reported an 11 per cent decline in revenue at ₹3085.7 crore, compared to ₹3468 crore for the corresponding period in FY 2025-26. However, PBT for H1 registered a 15 per cent increase, reaching ₹613.5 crore against ₹535.5 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Commenting on the operating conditions, Simon Wiebusch, Vice Chairman, Managing Director and CEO of BCSL, stated that the quarter reflected a challenging operating environment. He noted that an uneven monsoon affected sowing patterns and crop protection demand, alongside lower corn acreages. Wiebusch added that the company remained focused on disciplined execution, strengthening its portfolio, and scaling new innovations to help farmers improve productivity and resilience.

Vinit Jindal, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Bayer CropScience, provided further details on the financial metrics. He noted that PAT increased by 9 per cent in Q2 and 13 per cent in H1, supported by improved gross margins reflecting favourable production yields for corn seeds and cost efficiencies. Jindal also highlighted that higher corn seed production volumes, combined with weaker market demand, resulted in increased inventory, while market liquidity pressures led to delayed collections and marginally higher receivables.

In a meeting held on November 03, 2026, the Board of Directors of Bayer CropScience declared an interim dividend of ₹90 per equity share for the financial year ending March 31, 2027.

"Bayer CropScience's latest financial results highlight a key business lesson on operational efficiency during market headwinds. Even as revenues dipped due to external challenges like an uneven monsoon and softer demand, the company managed to expand its net profit through strict cost controls and improved gross margins. For businesses navigating volatile market conditions, prioritizing working capital management, margin protection, and disciplined execution remains essential to sustaining profitability and delivering value to shareholders." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
