A high-level Gujarat government delegation secured investment interest from Bharat SemiTech to establish a semiconductor equipment manufacturing facility in Sanand with an estimated investment of ₹1,000 crore. The proposal emerged during an international outreach tour across Singapore and South Korea to prepare for the 11th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.

A high-level delegation from the Gujarat government has secured key investment interest during an international outreach programme in Singapore and South Korea. Among the major proposals, Bharat SemiTech has explored setting up a semiconductor equipment manufacturing facility in Sanand with an estimated investment of ₹1,000 crore, according to a state government release.

The eight-day outreach programme, conducted from October 19 to 26, formed part of the state's preparations for the 11th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2027. The summit is scheduled to take place in Gandhinagar from January 10 to 12. The proposed Sanand facility emerged as a central investment prospect from the Singapore leg of the visit, aligning with Gujarat's broader strategy to build a robust semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem and attract investments across the advanced manufacturing value chain.

Led by Gujarat’s Minister for Forests and Environment, Climate Change, Science and Technology, Arjun Modhwadia, the delegation participated in diverse sectoral discussions. The talks covered semiconductors, water and wastewater management, digital technology, healthcare, agriculture and food processing, green hydrogen, infrastructure, maritime services, and advanced manufacturing.

During the Singapore leg, the delegation completed 20 engagements, including nine one-to-one business meetings, two government-to-government meetings, five roundtable discussions, and four site visits. The itinerary featured a meeting with Singapore’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Industry, Gan Siow Huang, to discuss bilateral economic and investment relations. The team also interacted with key industry bodies such as the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA), Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), ASEAN Innovation Business Platform (AIBP), TiE Singapore, and the Singapore Gujarati Society.

Additionally, the delegation toured prominent technology and manufacturing operations, including Micron Semiconductor, Global Tech Solutions, ASMPT’s Yishun facility, and A*STAR Fusionopolis, to observe global industry practices and research capabilities. Business meetings were similarly held with companies including Redwood Interior, Autodesk, Guardant AMEA, Keppel Infrastructure, Itochu Corporation, Agrocorp International, SMIT Salvage, and De Nora Water Technologies.

Following Singapore, the delegation travelled to South Korea for 25 engagements, which included 15 one-to-one business meetings, three roundtable discussions, and seven site visits. The South Korean leg targeted investments in semiconductors, display technology, shipbuilding, maritime services, data centres, chemicals, biotechnology, clean energy, robotics, agritech, and industrial infrastructure.

The delegation visited several South Korean institutions and corporate facilities, such as HJ Heavy Industries, Hanwha Ocean, Hanyang Engineering, GnBS Eco, Gachon University’s MRI Research Centre, Dawon Medax BNCT Centre, and Seoul Semiconductor. Further meetings took place with organisations including the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hanwha Maritime Services Division, Daesun Shipbuilding & Engineering, TES Co., EYEQ Lab, TEMC, APS Innovation, Silicon Display, Dongwoo Fine-Chem, LAMKO, Nova Data Center, HD Hyundai, CORESTEMCHEMON, MagneX MS, and TagHive. These discussions focused on manufacturing expansion, joint ventures, research and development partnerships, technology transfers, and pilot projects.

"The interest shown by Bharat SemiTech to establish a ₹1,000 crore semiconductor equipment facility in Sanand highlights the growing momentum of India's electronics and advanced manufacturing sector. State-led delegations visiting global technology hubs like Singapore and South Korea play a vital role in building international partnerships, fostering technology transfers, and strengthening local industrial ecosystems. For regional development, attracting specialized equipment manufacturing is a crucial step toward creating a self-sustaining semiconductor supply chain." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
