MUMBAI — KPI Green Energy announced on Friday that the company has successfully energised 49.7 MW of solar capacity along with 121.8 MWp of hybrid energy capacity located at Bharuch in the state of Gujarat.
According to the regulatory framework for renewable energy, energisation approval is the formal permission granted by grid operators. This clearance allows a renewable energy project to connect to the main electricity transmission grid after successfully meeting all required parameters and safety standards.
In an official regulatory filing with the stock exchange, KPI Green Energy detailed the specific capacities brought online. The company stated that it has energised an additional capacity of 49.7 MWp under its larger 250 MW / 350 MWp independent power producer (IPP) solar power project.
Additionally, the company has energised 121.8 MWp under its 370 MW / 677 MWp hybrid power project (IPP). Both projects are situated in the Bharuch region of Gujarat, adding substantial renewable generation capability to the company's operational portfolio.
The announcement underscores ongoing infrastructure developments in the renewable energy sector, where grid connectivity milestones remain a critical step toward commercial operations and power generation.
"The successful grid connection and energisation of solar and hybrid capacities by KPI Green Energy highlight the critical importance of regulatory clearances in the renewable energy sector. Achieving grid connectivity is a vital milestone for independent power producers, as it transitions projects from development phases to actual power generation and commercial readiness. As India continues to expand its renewable energy footprint, efficient execution and grid integration will remain key drivers for sustainable growth in the infrastructure and energy space." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
