Century Plyboards (India) Ltd posted a consolidated top line of ₹1,780 crore in Q2 FY27, marking a 28.5% year-on-year increase. Analysts have issued a 'Buy' recommendation on the stock with a target price of ₹826, citing strong performance in the plywood segment and planned capacity expansions.

NEW DELHI — Century Plyboards (India) Ltd (CPIL), promoted by Sajjan Bhajanka, Sanjay Agarwal, and the Late HP Agarwal, has reported its financial performance for the second quarter of FY27, showcasing notable year-on-year growth across key metrics despite challenging industry conditions.

During Q2 FY27, the company's consolidated top line grew by 28.5% year-on-year to reach ₹1,780 crore. CPIL's EBITDA for the quarter increased by 31.6% year-on-year to ₹229.70 crore. The EBITDA margin also saw an upward tick, improving by 30 basis points year-on-year to 12.9%. According to financial disclosures, this margin expansion was supported by strategic price hikes, operating leverage, and cost optimization measures.

As India’s largest plywood manufacturer, CPIL currently holds a 29% organized market share. The company's core plywood business has maintained a strong performance, allowing it to capture further market share amidst broader macroeconomic and industry-wide challenges. Furthermore, a planned capacity increase of 130,000 CBM is expected to support near-term earnings growth.

Looking ahead, financial analysts anticipate that reductions in capital expenditure and planned debt repayment in FY28 will further enhance profitability. Driven by a pickup in demand for wood panels, the company is projected to strengthen its market position, benefit from enhanced brand recall, and generate healthy internal cash flows as recently commissioned capacities are fully ramped up.

Analysts have maintained a 'Buy' rating on CPIL stock with a target price of ₹826, based on a price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple of 35x the estimated FY28 EPS of ₹23.6. However, the valuation multiple has been adjusted downward from 40x to 35x. This adjustment reflects increasing competitive intensity within the MDF business—which accounts for 21% of sales—alongside a delay in achieving targeted margins and return ratios.

"Century Plyboards' performance in Q2 FY27 highlights the resilience of established manufacturing leaders in navigating difficult industry environments through operational efficiency and cost optimization. While top-line and EBITDA growth are encouraging, the reduction in valuation multiples due to rising competition in the MDF segment demonstrates the importance of monitoring margin stability alongside capacity expansion. For growing businesses, balancing debt reduction with scalable capacity investments remains a reliable pathway to long-term profitability." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
