CLFMA of India has elected Sumit Sureka as its new Chairman for the 2026–2028 term. Sureka, who has over 30 years of industry experience, succeeds Divya Kumar Gulati and will focus on key industry challenges such as feed raw material availability and price volatility.

NEW DELHI — CLFMA of India, the apex body representing the country’s livestock feed and allied sectors, has announced the election of Sumit Sureka as its Chairman for the 2026–2028 term.

Sureka serves as the Managing Director of Shivshakti Agro India Pvt Ltd and Amrit Breeder Farms Pvt Ltd, and as a Director of Impressico Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd. He brings over three decades of professional experience spanning the animal feed industry—including poultry, dairy, aqua, and piggery—alongside poultry breeding, hatcheries, broiler integration, and financial management.

Prior to his appointment as Chairman, Sureka served as the deputy chairman of CLFMA for six years. He is also the vice president of the West Bengal Poultry Federation, and an alumnus of the London Business School and Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi. He takes over the leadership from immediate past chairman Divya Kumar Gulati of Nurture Technology Pvt Ltd.

In his new role, Sureka will lead the association's engagement with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and research institutions. The leadership team aims to address shared industry concerns and advance the long-term development of the livestock and feed sectors.

Addressing the core challenges facing the sector, Sureka noted that availability and affordability of maize and soya remain the biggest hurdles for the immediate future. Supply uncertainty and price volatility have placed significant pressure on the feed industry, which directly supports the poultry, dairy, and aquaculture sectors.

“We need to move beyond short-term firefighting and work towards sustainable, long-term solutions. This will require collective industry efforts, better productivity and supply-chain infrastructure, and constructive engagement with the government to ensure the availability of maize and soya at competitive prices,” CLFMA stated.

Alongside Sureka, CLFMA announced its full slate of office bearers for the 2026–2028 term. The newly elected leadership team includes Abhay Parnekar as Deputy Chairman for Poultry, Dony George as Deputy Chairman for Dairy, Ramakant V Akula as Deputy Chairman for Aquaculture, and Ram Kutty as Deputy Chairman. Additionally, Abhay Shah has been appointed as Honorary Secretary, and Nissar Ahmed takes on the role of Treasurer.

During his tenure, Sureka aims to strengthen industry engagement with policymakers to ensure members' concerns receive due attention, while supporting initiatives that drive innovation, competitiveness, and responsible growth across the animal agriculture value chain.

"The appointment of experienced leadership at industry bodies like CLFMA is vital for navigating complex supply chain and raw material challenges. With input cost volatility in key commodities like maize and soya directly impacting the poultry, dairy, and aquaculture sectors, structured engagement between industry stakeholders and policymakers remains essential for sustainable long-term growth and stability in the agricultural value chain." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
