BENGALURU, India — Credit card management platform CheQ has announced the launch of CheQ UPI, expanding its service offering from credit management into everyday digital payments. The newly introduced feature enables users to execute UPI transactions by scanning any UPI QR code across India's merchant network using linked bank accounts and RuPay credit cards.
With this launch, CheQ becomes a platform offering rewards on UPI payments conducted via RuPay-linked credit cards. The product integrates the speed and accessibility of UPI with credit card rewards and CheQ's existing credit ecosystem into a single interface.
CheQ was initially established to assist consumers with credit card repayments, rewards, credit insights, and AI-driven products. By introducing CheQ UPI, the company moves beyond periodic credit oversight into daily transaction use cases where consumers frequently rely on credit.
UPI has grown into a core component of daily commerce in India, handling transactions ranging from local kirana stores and cafes to online shopping and dining. The integration of RuPay credit cards with the UPI network has further broadened the application of credit cards in routine purchases. CheQ UPI has been developed to address the specific transaction requirements of credit card users within this landscape.
The service is designed to provide security, speed, and reliability alongside its core value propositions. It aims to encourage users who own RuPay credit cards to utilize them for everyday UPI payments by combining a streamlined payment experience with the broader CheQ ecosystem.
Aditya Soni, Founder & CEO of CheQ, commented on the development: “CheQ started with a simple ambition: to help people get more out of their credit. With CheQ UPI, we're taking that ambition into something Indians do multiple times everyday — payments. CheQ UPI brings together the scale and simplicity of UPI with CheQ's deep understanding of credit card users. We want CheQ to become the natural home for every RuPay credit card, seamless to pay with, rewarding to use, and fully integrated with how you manage your credit. This is a defining step for CheQ, moving from a platform people visit to manage their credit, to one they use every single day.”
The new offering connects everyday payments, RuPay credit card usage, credit management, and rewards into a unified user experience. The rollout forms a foundational part of CheQ's strategy to build a comprehensive credit ecosystem aimed at helping India's credit-active demographic manage credit and derive utility from it in everyday scenarios.
"The expansion of credit-focused platforms into everyday payment gateways like UPI represents a strategic shift in India's fintech landscape. By integrating RuPay credit cards with reward mechanisms on a single application, CheQ is attempting to capture higher user engagement frequency. Bridging the gap between periodic credit card management and daily transactions could improve customer retention, though success will depend on navigating transaction margins and sustaining competitive reward structures in a crowded digital payments market." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
