Hyundai Motor India Limited announced an 8.8 percent increase in total sales for August, driven by a significant rise in domestic sales. However, the company noted that exports faced challenges due to ongoing logistical constraints in West Asia.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd on Tuesday reported an 8.8 per cent rise in its total sales for the month of August, reaching 65,796 units.

The company stated that the total monthly sales comprised domestic sales of 54,396 units, which marked a 23.6 per cent increase year-on-year. Additionally, exports for the month stood at 11,400 units.

Tarun Garg, MD & CEO of Hyundai Motor India Ltd, commented on the performance, stating that the company continues to sustain strong growth momentum in FY2027. He noted that domestic sales grew by 12.6 per cent year-on-year during the April-August period.

According to the company, the domestic sales figure of 54,396 units recorded in August is the highest-ever figure for any August month, reflecting demand for the company's product portfolio.

At the same time, the company reported that total exports during the month were affected by logistical constraints. These constraints arose from the ongoing conflict in West Asia and the broader geopolitical environment during the period.

Despite the export challenges, Hyundai Motor India remains optimistic about future export demand. The company expects international demand to remain strong in the coming months as the geopolitical situation improves.

"Hyundai Motor India's performance in August highlights the resilience of the domestic automotive market, driven by strong local demand and record-breaking August sales. However, this report also illustrates how external macroeconomic factors, such as geopolitical conflicts and regional logistical bottlenecks, can directly impact international trade and export volumes for large manufacturers. Companies operating at scale must maintain supply chain agility to navigate such external disruptions effectively while continuing to capture domestic market opportunities." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
