Indraprastha Gas Ltd has announced a price hike of ₹3.89 per kg for Compressed Natural Gas in Delhi and surrounding regions. The revision is attributed to higher input costs driven by surging spot market prices of imported liquefied natural gas.

Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) has announced an increase in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices across Delhi and adjoining cities. The revision, amounting to ₹3.89 per kg, comes into effect from 6 am on Saturday.

According to the company's official statement, the price adjustment has been necessitated by a significant rise in input gas costs. IGL stated that a substantial portion of the gas required for CNG production is met through imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Spot market rates for imported LNG have experienced a sharp surge since the onset of the conflict in West Asia.

International LNG prices have remained elevated, creating a sustained cost impact on gas distribution companies. IGL described the revision as a calibrated measure aimed at partially offsetting these higher input expenses.

The price hike will directly impact vehicle owners and commercial transport operators relying on CNG in Delhi and the neighboring regions served by IGL.

"Rising energy and fuel costs directly impact operational expenses for businesses, particularly in logistics, delivery, and transportation sectors. When key input costs like imported LNG surge due to geopolitical tensions, city gas distributors are forced to pass on the impact. Entrepreneurs and business owners who rely heavily on commercial fleets must factor such utility price volatility into their financial planning and operating margins to maintain long-term stability." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
