Silver futures increased by 0.48 per cent to reach ₹1,96,650 per kilogram on Monday, supported by positive global market movements and fresh positioning by participants on the Multi Commodity Exchange.

Silver prices witnessed an upward movement in futures trade on Monday, rising by 0.48 per cent to ₹1,96,650 per kg. The increase was primarily driven by firm global market trends and fresh positions built by market participants.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), silver contracts for December delivery recorded a gain of ₹931, or 0.48 per cent, taking the trading price to ₹1,96,650 per kilogram. Market activity during the session registered a business turnover of 1,622 lots.

Market analysts noted that the positive sentiment in domestic futures was largely supported by developments in international markets. In overseas trade, silver futures advanced by 0.70 per cent, quoted at $54.26 per ounce.

The movement in commodity futures reflects ongoing participation and global pricing trends influencing domestic exchanges.

"The recent movement in silver futures reflects how domestic commodity markets remain closely tied to international pricing trends and global sentiment. With silver reaching ₹1,96,650 per kg on the Multi Commodity Exchange backed by fresh participant positions, traders and investors need to closely monitor global cues and overseas price fluctuations. Commodities continue to be an important asset class for portfolio diversification, but participants must navigate futures trading with a clear understanding of market volatility." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
