State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) announced on Wednesday that it has secured four projects from Adani Power Limited, with a total value ranging between ₹20,000 crore and ₹28,000 crore.
According to the company's exchange filing, the fresh orders involve the supply of equipment, including boilers, turbines, and generators along with auxiliaries, alongside agreed services for the designated projects. BHEL specified that the orders comprise four projects of 2x800 MW each.
Regarding the financial breakdown of the order size, BHEL stated that each individual project is valued between ₹5,000 crore and ₹7,000 crore, excluding Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Adani Power Limited, a part of the diversified Adani Group, operates as the largest private thermal power producer in India. The company currently maintains an installed thermal power capacity of 18,110 MW, which is distributed across 12 power plants located in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Tamil Nadu. Additionally, the company operates a 40-MW solar power plant in Gujarat.
BHEL operates as one of India's leading engineering and manufacturing enterprises, holding decades of sector experience spanning power, transmission, renewables, oil and gas, transportation, defence, and aerospace domains.
"This is a substantial contract win for BHEL that highlights the continued demand for heavy engineering and manufacturing capabilities within India's power sector. Large-scale infrastructure and equipment supply agreements of this magnitude reflect the scale at which major private energy producers like Adani Power are executing their capacity additions. For established public sector enterprises, securing multi-project orders worth up to ₹28,000 crore provides strong revenue visibility and reinforces the critical role of domestic manufacturing in supporting the country's energy infrastructure requirements." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
