Tamil Nadu Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Minister K.G. Arunraj released the rank list for admission to undergraduate AYUSH and BNYS courses for the 2026-27 academic year. The State has made available 2,224 undergraduate AYUSH seats and 2,036 BNYS seats across various government and self-financing colleges.
The AYUSH courses covered in the admissions include BSMS (Siddha), BAMS (Ayurveda), BUMS (Unani), and BHMS (Homoeopathy), alongside BNYS (Yoga and Naturopathy). According to the Health and Family Welfare Department, out of the 11,850 applications received, 10,849 were found eligible for admission.
Counselling for the admissions is scheduled to commence on September 3. The process will be conducted across three regular rounds, followed by a stray vacancy round to fill remaining seats.
For applicants under the 7.5 percent preferential quota designated for students from government schools, 906 out of 1,077 applications were deemed eligible. Pa Thamilaruvi from Nagapattinam district secured the first rank under this quota with a NEET score of 516, followed by Su Brindha Sri from Tirunelveli district. In the general government quota, P Kranthik from Namakkal district achieved the first rank, while K Thiyagaraj from Tiruvallur district secured the second rank. Under the management and all-India quota, top rank holders included K Thiyagaraj, V Hemavathi from Tiruvallur district, and Dharani Kannan from Madurai district.
During the announcement, the minister noted that the State government is formulating a 'positive health policy.' This policy aims to focus on primordial and primary disease prevention through traditional lifestyles, yoga, naturopathy, and balanced nutrition.
In related developments, the Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy launched a 16-therapy Indian Medicine Holistic Wellness Centre at its Anna Nagar campus. The facility offers rejuvenation, pain management, and circulation therapies at nominal rates, alongside free general services. Additionally, the State has operationalised a 28-bed residential rejuvenation therapy facility at the International Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy and Medical Sciences in Chengalpattu. Plans are also underway to collaborate with the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation to promote wellness and medical tourism in hill stations.
