Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Highlights C-DoT's Role in Advancing India's Telecom Capabilities

MUMBAI — Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed confidence on Tuesday that the technical capabilities of the state-owned Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) will help transform India from being self-reliant to making the global community rely on its technology.

Speaking at the 43rd foundation day of C-DoT, Scindia noted that India has successfully entered the group of four countries that supply advanced telecom gear for 4G and 5G globally. Furthermore, India has become the fifth country to develop its own indigenous 4G stack.

The minister stated that C-DoT's progress and destiny must align with 'Saptadhara'—the prime minister's seven-point vision for Viksit Bharat, which focuses on manufacturing, agriculture, technology, Gati Shakti, defence, green-blue economy, and soft power.

"I am very confident that my family present here today will lead India from an India that was dependent on the world to an India today that is Atmanirbhar to a C-DoT that will contribute to India tomorrow on a world dependent on India basis," Scindia said during the event.

Scindia remarked that while India lagged behind the global pace in 4G and matched step with the world in 5G, organizations like C-DoT position India to lead the global development of 6G standards. He emphasized that the next era of telecom will be defined by trusted, resilient, intelligent, and secure networks, urging C-DoT to transition its research from the laboratory to the market and globally market its developmental products as India journeys toward Viksit Bharat 2047.

During the foundation day event, C-DoT unveiled approximately 14 quantum products, with some already deployed in live networks.

Minister of State for Communications, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the impact of the Sanchar Saathi app developed by C-DoT. According to Pemmasani, the application has traced approximately 36 lakh stolen devices and blocked nearly 57 lakh lost or stolen phones.

Scindia added that the Sanchar Saathi app has recorded about 2.5 crore downloads and is estimated to have prevented financial fraud totaling ₹4,000 crore to date. "Preventing one individual's entire life savings with your work, in my view, is probably the best work anybody can do in this world," the minister stated.
