US President Donald Trump acknowledged the possibility of becoming "Mr. Veto" if Democrats secure majorities in the upcoming midterm elections. Polling indicates Democrats are well-positioned to potentially capture the House and Senate amid ongoing voter concerns regarding living costs and foreign policy.

US President Donald Trump stated that he may have to adopt the role of "Mr. Veto" if the Democratic Party wins a majority in the upcoming midterm elections. The remarks were made in a preview clip of a New York Post podcast interview broadcast on Fox News.

Discussing the legislative dynamic that could emerge if opposition parties gain control of Congress, Trump indicated that a veto strategy would be used against legislative proposals, suggesting that after a period of vetoes, negotiations could take place.

This acknowledgment arrives as the president continues a campaign schedule visiting traditionally Republican-leaning states such as Kansas and Iowa. Campaigns in these regions face increased competition amid voter anxiety concerning the high cost of living and the ongoing war in Iran.

Polling data indicates that Democrats are positioned to potentially secure the three House seats required to gain control of the chamber. Additionally, confidence has grown regarding the Senate, where seven races remain within a narrow margin.

Republican strategists maintain that private data reflects a more competitive landscape for the Senate, characterizing many key races as toss-ups. During campaign appearances, Trump has maintained that the country possesses a strong economy and asserted that public polls do not accurately capture Republican voter support.

During another portion of the interview, Trump addressed the topic of presidential term limits, noting that he would be open to running again if permitted, while acknowledging the restrictions outlined in the 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution, which limits a president to two terms.

"Political shifts and potential legislative gridlock introduce important variables for macroeconomic stability and business confidence. When the executive and legislative branches face potential division following midterm elections, businesses often experience delays or changes in policy direction, particularly regarding fiscal spending, taxation, and regulatory adjustments. Entrepreneurs and investors closely monitor such political developments to anticipate shifts in the broader economic environment and adjust their strategic planning accordingly." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
