Welspun Corp Ltd has secured a record ₹17,200 crore ($1.8-billion) contract linked to a major Permian Basin export pipeline project in the US. The deal pushes the company's global order book to approximately $4.4 billion, providing revenue visibility through FY28-FY29.

Welspun Corp Ltd has landed a record-breaking ₹17,200 crore ($1.8 billion) order tied to a major Permian Basin export pipeline project in the United States. Managing Director and CEO Vipul Mathur stated that the landmark contract has elevated the company's global order book to approximately $4.4 billion.

According to the company, more than 60 to 65 percent of this total order book is slated for execution from the United States over the next three to three-and-a-half years. The pipes produced under the new contract will be utilized for liquefied natural gas (LNG) export infrastructure originating from the Permian Basin and heading toward the Gulf Coast.

Welspun noted that its localized manufacturing footprint in the United States served as a critical advantage in winning the tender. By investing in capacity closer to customers over the years, the company enhanced its execution reliability and responsiveness for large-scale, critical infrastructure demands.

Addressing questions on capital expenditure, the management confirmed that the massive $1.8-billion order will be absorbed through existing US manufacturing facilities alongside ongoing investments. The company plans to utilize debottlenecking and targeted capacity augmentation to maintain operational flexibility for future market opportunities.

The current order book provides revenue visibility spanning across FY28 and FY29. All contracts associated with the order book are negotiated on a fixed-price basis and are denominated in US dollars. Execution of the latest order will take place across multiple locations in both the USA and India under varying timelines, with revenues recognized according to project milestones and delivery schedules.

Welspun views the current North American market activity not as an isolated incident, but as a broader structural opportunity. Strong regional energy production continues to drive ongoing demand for energy evacuation and pipeline infrastructure, with several complex projects currently at different stages of development.

"Welspun Corp's latest order highlights the strategic advantage of localized manufacturing in securing high-value international contracts. By establishing operations close to key energy hubs like the Permian Basin, the company has successfully positioned itself to capitalize on structural infrastructure demands rather than relying on one-off projects. For manufacturing and industrial enterprises, building localized execution capabilities and maintaining disciplined capital allocation are key drivers for long-term global growth and revenue visibility." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
