Adani Energy Solutions Ltd reported a consolidated net profit of ₹1,323 crore for the September quarter of FY27, driven by growth in its transmission and energy solutions businesses. Revenue from operations rose 53 percent to ₹10,075 crore, supported by a tax write-back of ₹1,531 crore.

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) on Thursday reported a 148 per cent year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to ₹1,323 crore for the September quarter of FY27. The company's earnings during the quarter were supported by strong growth across its transmission and energy solutions businesses, alongside a tax write-back of ₹1,531 crore.

Revenue from operations for the quarter rose 53 percent to ₹10,075 crore. The transmission business reported a 52 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue to ₹3,599 crore, while revenue from distribution grew two per cent to ₹3,181 crore. Meanwhile, revenue from the smart meter business more than doubled to ₹384 crore, and the energy solutions platform reported revenue of ₹2,197 crore, nearly 11 times the level recorded in the same period last year.

AESL operates across power transmission, electricity distribution, smart metering, and energy solutions. Its distribution business serves consumers in Mumbai and Mundra. The energy solutions platform, which includes trading activities, was renamed from its erstwhile trading segment to reflect an expanded focus on the broader energy market and the integration of its offerings.

Commenting on the operational performance, AESL CEO Kandarp Patel stated that the company had expanded its transmission project pipeline to around ₹87,000 crore after securing the Vizag and Satara assets. Patel noted that the Mumbai distribution business grew 11% in units sold during the quarter, while cumulative installations in the smart metering platform reached nearly 15 million. Additionally, a 2.5 GW round-the-clock power supply contract with MSEDCL has further strengthened the company's energy supply portfolio.

On the operational front, AESL's transmission network reached 29,739 circuit kilometres at the end of the September quarter, maintaining an average system availability of 99.8%. Cumulative smart metering installations stood at 14.8 million meters by the end of the first half of FY27, backed by an order book of 24.6 million meters.

The company estimates the near-term transmission tendering opportunity at ₹1.4 lakh crore, alongside a smart metering order book representing a potential revenue opportunity of ₹29,519 crore. Following the financial results, shares of Adani Energy Solutions Ltd ended 2.49 per cent lower at ₹1,293 apiece on the BSE on Thursday.

"The financial performance of Adani Energy Solutions highlights the growth potential embedded within India's core infrastructure and energy sectors. Significant scaling in transmission pipelines and smart metering orders demonstrates clear operational execution, though investors must continue to evaluate the impact of non-recurring items like tax write-backs alongside underlying business revenue growth to assess long-term sustainability." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
