Zinc Futures Face Resistance
Zinc futures, currently trading at ₹418 per kg, have entered a consolidation phase lasting nearly a month. Although the broader trend has remained positive, repeated rejections at the resistance level indicate that buying momentum may be losing strength.
Trading Range and Price Movements
The October futures contract has largely oscillated between ₹410 and ₹428 over the past month. Despite continuing to form higher highs, the contract has repeatedly failed to break through the key barrier at ₹428.
Support and Resistance Levels
Market indicators suggest that a prolonged consolidation period could empower sellers. In this scenario, zinc futures may decline from the current level of ₹418 to retest support at ₹410. A decisive breach below ₹410 could potentially lead to a further drop toward ₹400.
Conversely, if buying traction returns and leads to a breakout above the ₹428 barrier, zinc futures could establish a new upward trend. In that event, notable resistance levels are anticipated at ₹435 and ₹440.
Strategic Position Adjustments
With signs of the rally weakening, market participants who previously entered long positions at ₹410 are advised to consider exiting their trades at the current level of ₹418. Traders are generally recommended to wait for a clear breakout before initiating any new positions in the market.
"Commodity markets require strict discipline, especially when an asset enters a prolonged consolidation phase near established resistance levels. As seen with zinc futures hovering around the ₹418 mark, repeated failures to break higher highs signal that momentum is shifting. For traders and businesses exposed to metal price fluctuations, recognizing these technical barriers is critical for capital preservation and risk management before committing to new positions." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
