Central Technical Team to Inspect Proposed Airport Sites in Bhadradri Kothagudem

A Central technical team will visit Telangana on September 7 to inspect four to five alternative sites identified for the proposed airport in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

The announcement followed a meeting between Telangana Minister Tummala Nageshwararao and Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu in New Delhi. Previously, two locations examined for the airport were found unsuitable due to technical constraints.

The newly identified sites will undergo ground assessment to evaluate their geographical and climatic conditions, alongside overall technical feasibility for airport development. Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu assured that the Centre will initiate further steps toward establishing the Kothagudem airport if the technical team's report is favorable.

Additionally, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is likely to discuss proposals for airports at Mamunur in Warangal and Adilabad with the Union government.

Bhadradri Kothagudem houses the Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Temple at Bhadrachalam. According to an official release, the demand for an airport in the region has been long-pending to improve local connectivity for citizens and visitors.
