CHENNAI — Aheesa Digital Innovations, a Chennai-headquartered fabless semiconductor startup, has entered into a distribution partnership with local technology, software, and e-governance services company The Zigma Technologies. The agreement focuses on bringing Aheesa’s VIHAAN-I—described as a first-of-its-kind indigenous networking chip—to markets across India and beyond.
The formal agreement was signed by Sridharan Mani, Founder and CEO of Aheesa Digital Innovations, and Raja Kathiravan, Managing Director of The Zigma Technologies India (P) Ltd. The collaboration combines Aheesa’s semiconductor design capabilities with Zigma’s established network to commercialize homegrown silicon across the country.
The partnership follows key development milestones for the startup. Aheesa completed the successful tape-out of the VIHAAN-I chip on Republic Day in January 2026, followed by first-pass silicon success on Independence Day in August 2026, which was achieved on its very first attempt.
According to the companies, the VIHAAN-I chip is designed to reduce India's reliance on imported networking silicon and support locally manufactured broadband devices. The product aligns with the Government of India’s Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives aimed at building a domestic semiconductor ecosystem.
Commenting on the distribution strategy, Aheesa noted that deploying a locally designed chip into national networks requires an established ecosystem partner. Zigma brings nearly three decades of experience in delivering technology and e-governance infrastructure to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), original design manufacturers (ODMs), and government departments nationwide.
Following this distribution agreement, the VIHAAN-I chip will proceed toward production, which is currently targeted for 2027. Both Chennai-based firms view the milestone as a step forward in establishing commercial pathways for indigenous hardware products within the Indian market.
"The partnership between Aheesa Digital Innovations and Zigma Technologies highlights a vital missing link for deep-tech hardware startups in India: distribution and market access. Designing a successful chip like the VIHAAN-I is a critical engineering milestone, but translating that technical success into commercial adoption requires deep integration with established industry players and government networks. Collaborations of this nature demonstrate how early-stage hardware innovators can leverage existing supply chains and service channels to scale domestic technology solutions effectively." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
