The Indian corporate sector continues to release its financial scorecards for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. Amid active market trading, benchmark indices saw a downward movement early in the session, with the Sensex falling 414.35 points, or 0.57 percent, to 72,709.48, and the Nifty 50 depreciating by 147.30 points, or 0.65 percent, to 22,452.70.
Despite the broader market trends, multiple companies posted notable earnings performances. Major gainers in early trading included Kotak Mahindra Bank, Apollo Micro Systems, and Lumax Auto Technologies. Lumax Auto shares opened 4 percent higher at Rs 1,880.20 on the NSE, backed by a standalone net profit of Rs 88.99 crore for Q2 FY27, compared to Rs 61.08 crore in Q2 FY26. Additionally, the Lumax board approved a capital outlay of around Rs 150 crore to establish a new mechatronics manufacturing facility in Manesar, Haryana.
Apollo Micro Systems witnessed an 8 percent surge, trading at Rs 406.90 on the NSE after reporting a standalone net profit of Rs 47.73 crore for the quarter ending September 2026, up from Rs 33.04 crore in the corresponding period previous year. Similarly, Shriram Finance reported a 59 percent increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 3,684 crore, though its shares traded down 4 percent to Rs 831.90 on the NSE following earlier market movements.
In the banking sector, IndusInd Bank posted a standalone net profit of Rs 1,176 crore for Q2 FY27, recovering from a loss position year-on-year, while Kotak Mahindra Bank recorded a 30 percent year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 42.1 billion, beating analyst estimates and prompting brokerages to lift their targets.
On the technology front, Infosys reported a 6.2 percent year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 78.2 billion, missing analyst estimates. The IT major also cut its FY27 revenue growth guidance to 1-2 percent from the previous 1.5-3.0 percent, citing weak demand and a muted growth outlook. This guidance revision triggered a 4 percent decline in Infosys shares on the NSE.
The earnings reports cover a wide spectrum of industries across the Indian startup and enterprise ecosystem, including upcoming and reported quarterly results for entities such as Ather Energy, Nazara Technologies, Paytm (One 97 Communications), Mankind Pharma, Tata Consumer Products, Aequs, and several others. Across various sectors, companies reported mixed outcomes, with several beating estimates—such as JSW Steel, Coforge, and IDFC First Bank—while others faced margin pressures or missed revenue expectations.
"The Q2 FY27 earnings season highlights a divergence in performance across traditional enterprises and technology-driven firms. While banking, manufacturing, and select industrial players are demonstrating resilient profit growth and capital expansion, sectors like IT are navigating demand softness, prompting conservative revenue guidance. For founders and investors, these results emphasize the importance of cost efficiency, strong balance sheets, and realistic growth forecasts in a shifting macroeconomic environment." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
