MUMBAI — JSW Infrastructure (JSWI) is projecting a substantial scale-up in its operations over the coming years, targeting a 2.2x increase in port capacity and a 14-fold rise in logistics EBITDA by FY30. According to market forecasts, this growth is expected to drive an EBITDA CAGR of over 30 per cent for the company between FY26 and FY30.
Volume projections for JSWI indicate an 18 per cent CAGR from FY26 to FY30. This growth is primarily underpinned by a projected 22 per cent CAGR in JSW group cargo, driven largely by JSW Steel (JSTL). JSTL has outlined plans to increase its domestic capacity to 78 million tonnes by FY32, representing a 2.1x rise. Industry estimates note that each tonne of steel requires between 2.5 and 3 tonnes of raw material, a significant portion of which is expected to be handled through JSW Infrastructure's facilities.
Furthermore, JSTL's ongoing expansion plans and the potential in-sourcing of volumes by the wider JSW group through JSWI could add approximately 70 million tonnes. This addition represents a roughly 30 per cent increase over baseline FY30 volume forecasts.
To support these growth objectives, JSWI recently completed a qualified institutional placement (QIP) raising ₹6,500 crore. This capital infusion is designed to fund growth capital expenditure while keeping financial leverage under control, with the Net Debt-to-EBITDA ratio projected to remain below 2x over the FY26–FY30 period.
Analysts have adjusted their price target for JSWI to ₹400, up from ₹395 earlier, based on an 18x September 2028 estimated EV/EBITDA multiple. This compares to a 16x multiple for Adani Ports, reflecting JSWI's projected 25 per cent EBITDA CAGR between FY28 and FY30, versus 16 per cent for Adani Ports.
Despite the positive outlook, market observers have highlighted potential downside risks. These include any prospective delays in JSWI or broader group capital expenditure plans, as well as risks associated with non-core capital expenditure expansions.
"The aggressive capacity expansion targets set by JSW Infrastructure reflect strong integration synergies within the JSW group, particularly driven by JSW Steel's scaling production. Raising ₹6,500 crore through a QIP provides the company with adequate capital to fund its growth capital expenditure while keeping financial leverage comfortably below a Net D/EBITDA of 2x. However, execution risk regarding group capex timelines and non-core expansion plans will remain critical factors to monitor as these long-term projects unfold." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
