NEW DELHI — L&T Technology Services (LTTS) announced on Monday that it has secured a five-year contract with Nokia to support research, development, and engineering activities in India.
The partnership combines LTTS's engineering capabilities with Nokia's telecommunications technology operations. The companies did not disclose the financial size or monetary value of the contract in their official release.
Under the terms of the agreement, LTTS will establish a dedicated Offshore Development Center (ODC) in India. This center will feature data-center-grade compute and AI-infrastructure engineering designed to support next-generation telecom solutions.
Additionally, LTTS will set up a dedicated engineering team in India to support Nokia's global technology centers. The scope of work under this engagement spans several domains, including 5G networks, intelligent automation, AI-driven operations, and AI infrastructure.
The collaboration will operate through an integrated operating model, connecting LTTS directly with Nokia's global R&D teams. The overall engagement covers research and development, product engineering, new product development, embedded systems, software development, system integration, and ongoing support.
Vivek Jaiswal, Senior Vice-President of Engineering at Nokia, stated that India serves as an important innovation hub for the company. He noted that LTTS will act as a critical partner to help expand Nokia's R&D footprint and accelerate innovation within the region.
Alind Saxena, Executive Director and President of Strategic Initiatives & Growth Markets at L&T Technology Services, described the engagement as a significant milestone for the firm. Saxena added that the collaboration aligns with the company's 'Lakshya 31' strategy regarding next-generation compute and AI infrastructure, which is expected to support future communication networks and intelligent datacenters.
"This five-year agreement between L&T Technology Services and Nokia highlights the growing role of India as a global hub for advanced engineering and research and development. By establishing a dedicated Offshore Development Center focused on AI infrastructure and 5G networks, this collaboration demonstrates how large technology enterprises are leveraging specialized engineering partners to scale complex product development. For the broader technology ecosystem, long-term institutional contracts of this scale validate the depth of deep-tech capabilities available in the market." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
