NEW DELHI: Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd on Tuesday reported a marginal 2 per cent year-on-year decline in its total wholesales for the month of August, registering 9,350 units compared to 9,541 units in the corresponding month last year.
The automaker's total wholesales for August comprised 3,426 units sold in the domestic market and 5,924 units designated for exports, according to the company's official figures.
Despite the slight overall dip, Nissan Motor India's domestic wholesales recorded a notable 147.5 per cent year-on-year growth, rising to 3,426 units from 1,384 units in August of the previous year.
The company attributed the domestic growth to sustained demand for key models such as the Magnite and Gravite, alongside a strong market response to the newly introduced Nissan Tekton.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, commented on the performance, stating that as the company expands the presence of the Tekton across domestic and international markets, it remains focused on delivering innovative products, a differentiated customer experience, and sustainable growth for the business.
"Nissan's performance in August highlights a classic duality in the manufacturing and automotive sector, where strong domestic traction contrasts with shifting export volumes. Achieving a substantial triple-digit growth in the domestic market through targeted vehicle models is a positive indicator of brand resonance and localized demand. For automotive companies navigating market fluctuations, balancing domestic momentum with robust international distribution remains a critical lever for stabilizing overall wholesales and driving long-term enterprise value." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
