The Indian corporate ecosystem is currently witnessing a massive wave of second-quarter financial disclosures for FY2027, with more than 212 companies announcing their results. Major industry players including Reliance Industries, Jio Platforms, Sun Pharma, Bharat Electronics, Bank of Baroda, and Delhivery are among the prominent names in focus during this earnings cycle.
Smartworks Coworking Spaces reported a strong performance for the quarter. Founder and Managing Director Neetish Sarda stated that the company delivered a robust first-half performance, tracking ahead of its FY27 plans. Smartworks posted a standalone profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 27.8 crore in Q2 FY27, recovering from a loss of Rs 3.79 crore in Q2 FY26. The company highlighted a 39 percent revenue growth year-on-year, reaching Rs 591 crore, and more than doubled its normalised profit after tax to Rs 43.4 crore. Sustained demand from existing clients, Indian conglomerates, and Global Capability Centers (GCCs)—which contribute around 22 percent of rental revenue—drove six consecutive quarters of sequential revenue and margin growth.
In the banking and financial services sector, Equitas Small Finance Bank reported its highest quarterly net profit of Rs 218 crore in Q2 FY27, marking an exponential growth year-on-year. However, the announcement coincided with the resignation of its Managing Director and CEO, PN Vasudevan, leading to a 15.5 percent drop in the bank's shares on the NSE. Meanwhile, Capital Small Finance Bank reported a 30.7 percent year-on-year growth in PAT to Rs 45.61 crore, alongside a 23.4 percent growth in gross advances.
Consumer goods companies experienced mixed outcomes. Godrej Consumer Products reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 522.92 crore for July-September 2026, up from Rs 459.34 crore in the corresponding period last year, driven by growth in Africa and Indonesia despite margin pressures in India. Trent also posted strong results, with consolidated net profit rising to Rs 4.64 crore from Rs 3.8 crore, supported by growth in Zudio and Star Grocery, even as Noel Tata stepped down. On the other hand, Suzlon Energy reported a 69 percent year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 394 crore for the quarter, causing its shares to trade 8.2 percent lower.
Aviation major IndiGo saw its consolidated net loss narrow to Rs 1,879 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, helped by fare hikes and cost controls despite fuel-hit losses. Meanwhile, CAMS posted a standalone PAT of Rs 122.32 crore with its mutual fund assets under management growing 12.1 percent year-on-year to a record Rs 58.4 lakh crore, retaining its market leadership position.
"The ongoing Q2 FY27 earnings season highlights a clear divergence across sectors in the Indian economy. While flexible workspace providers like Smartworks and certain consumer brands are scaling efficiently on the back of steady demand and structural shifts, others are grappling with margin pressures, supply chain friction, and leadership transitions. For growing businesses, these results emphasize the importance of robust operational execution and adaptable cost controls to navigate fluctuating macroeconomic conditions successfully." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
