Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) has announced a significant restructuring of its Post Graduate Programme in Development Management (PGPDM). The institute has also opened applications for Batch 28, scheduled to begin in February 2027.
The curriculum overhaul comes in response to evolving demands within India's social sector, where traditional charity-led frameworks are progressively shifting towards rights-based development models. These modern frameworks increasingly rely on measurable outcomes, systems thinking, innovation, cross-sector collaboration, impact investing, ESG standards, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) mandates.
PGPDM holds international Triple Crown accreditation from AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS. The programme brings together a diverse cohort of NGO leaders, government officials, UN professionals, social impact consultants, entrepreneurs, and CSR professionals to foster peer learning and cross-sector collaboration.
Professor Tanojkumar Meshram, Chairperson of PGPDM at SPJIMR, noted that the social sector no longer operates in isolation. He stated that the programme builds a community where practitioners across sectors form alliances to scale real solutions.
The revised curriculum centres on four core pillars: ESG, AI for Development, Social Entrepreneurship, and Public Policy. To accommodate working professionals, the institute has introduced flexible online class schedules, updated evaluation methods, and expanded elective offerings that include advanced courses in strategy, data, and organizational compliance.
Additionally, the programme has integrated three experiential labs focusing on leadership, communication, and professional writing. A key addition is a year-long Social Impact Project conducted jointly with full-time management participants, bridging development management with corporate rigour.
SPJIMR is also transitioning from a two-batch model to a single annual intake each February. This change brings together a larger cohort of nearly 100 development professionals on campus to enhance networking and knowledge exchange.
Entering its 16th year with Batch 28, the programme's alumni network currently holds leadership and CXO roles across NGOs, social enterprises, and CSR functions, with many having established new social ventures. Admissions and eligibility criteria are currently listed on the institute's official website.
