Amit Metaliks Ltd is targeting the completion of its ₹4,000-crore greenfield integrated steel plant in West Bengal within a 1,000-day window. The company is also exploring ways to fast-track the timeline down to 800 days to align with the target set by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, according to Amit Kumar Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Amit Metaliks Limited.
The foundation stone for the large-scale manufacturing project was laid in Raghunathpur, located in the Purulia district of West Bengal.
Speaking about the project schedule, Singh noted that the company would review the matter internally. "If the Chief Minister has mentioned a timeframe of 800 days, we will review the matter with our team and examine how we can compress that thousand-day schedule into 800 days," he stated.
Beyond manufacturing capacity, the leadership highlighted local employment generation as a primary objective of the investment. Singh emphasized that the facility is expected to provide jobs locally, potentially allowing workers from the region to return home for employment.
Priyanka Singh, Executive Director of Amit Metaliks Limited, added that the initiative is designed to build a new future for the local population. She stated that the company has made efforts to prioritize local workers for the project.
"I want to tell the people of Purulia that we haven't come here merely to set up a plant; we have come to build a new future," she said, noting that the company seeks the cooperation of local residents and the state government.
She further emphasized the objective to create sufficient resources and opportunities to enable individuals currently working away from home to return, while ensuring that the local youth find adequate employment avenues within the region.
