Andhra Pradesh Inaugurates Suzlon Wind Energy Projects Worth ₹10,500 Crore

ANANTHAPUR — Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh has formally inaugurated Suzlon’s 1,325 MW wind energy projects in Anantapur, involving an investment of ₹10,500 crore. The newly launched projects are expected to generate 1,600 direct and indirect jobs in the region.

Alongside the wind energy projects, the Minister also inaugurated the expanded Suzlon smart blade manufacturing facility in Ananthapur. The facility now features two additional production lines, aimed at further strengthening the State’s renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem.

Speaking at the inauguration, Nara Lokesh stated that Andhra Pradesh is committed to building a world-class clean energy ecosystem capable of powering the State’s next phase of industrial and economic growth. He noted that the groundbreaking of the 1,325 MW wind energy projects reflects the growing confidence of leading renewable energy companies in the State’s progressive policies and investment environment.

This latest development builds on a partnership between Suzlon and Andhra Pradesh spanning over two decades. To date, the company has catalysed approximately ₹15,500 crore of investment in the State and is currently executing around 1,600 MW of wind projects.

Suzlon’s manufacturing facility in Ananthapur has an annual capacity of 1,260 MW and currently supports more than 1,200 direct and indirect green jobs. In addition to manufacturing and generation, the company is contributing to green skilling initiatives in the State. According to official figures, 12,000 young people, including 3,000 women, have received training through skill development labs established in Uravakonda and Vijayawada.

Suzlon Vice Chairman and Co-Founder Girish Tanti remarked that the company remains a long-term partner in Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy journey, noting that the new projects mark a new chapter in their two-decade association with the State.

Adding to this perspective, Suzlon CEO Ajay Kapur highlighted that the State’s growing industrial and technology ecosystem, which includes data centres and new industries, is creating a new dimension for energy requirements. He emphasized that this growth makes integrated renewable energy solutions increasingly important for future operations.

According to an official release, the expansion reinforces Andhra Pradesh’s emergence as a destination for large-scale renewable energy investments, advanced manufacturing, and green jobs, aligning with the State Government’s vision of Viksit Andhra Pradesh.
