IT solutions provider Bahwan CyberTek is seeing sustained technology spending from governments and businesses across the Middle East, according to its newly appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Amrinder Singh. Singh took over the leadership role after spending nearly three decades in the IT sector.
The Chennai-headquartered company maintains a balanced geographic revenue distribution, with approximately one-third of its business originating from the US, the Middle East, and a combined market of India and the Far East. Core Middle East markets for the firm include Oman and the UAE, where it handles public sector, energy, and banking contracts. In Oman, the company manages end-to-end IT services for one of the region's largest petroleum developmental organizations.
Operating for 27 years, Bahwan CyberTek records an annual run rate of about $250 million. The company employs roughly 5,500 personnel. Singh noted that this relatively compact workforce allows the firm greater flexibility than larger IT service providers to adopt artificial intelligence, retrain staff, and adapt to customer demands. The company reports that nearly all personnel in its technology and delivery functions have received AI training.
Alongside IT services, the company maintains around a dozen proprietary products, frequently incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities. Bahwan CyberTek is currently integrating artificial intelligence into these offerings. Among these products is FuelTrans, a solution utilizing sensors to monitor fuel inventories in real time at petrol stations and predict logistics needs to prevent shortages. Driven by current market dynamics in the oil sector, the company has secured two new orders from Indian clients and is engaged in discussions with oil marketing companies across three African countries, with ongoing pilots.
The company also serves sectors including banking, financial services, telecom, energy, utilities, and public administration. Supported by its heritage as an Indian IT firm and backing from the Oman-based Suhail Bahwan Group, the company sees a market advantage in leveraging localized delivery models. Singh highlighted that evolving geopolitical conditions are accelerating the demand for localized technology services and delivery teams, capabilities the company has already established in regions such as Oman, Taiwan, and Brunei.
To support its international expansion, Bahwan CyberTek plans to utilize joint ventures and special purpose vehicles, particularly in markets prioritizing local presence. Looking ahead, the company targets an annual growth rate of 10 to 15 percent over the next two to three years.
"Bahwan CyberTek demonstrates how established IT enterprises can leverage a balanced geographic footprint and localized delivery models to navigate shifting geopolitical landscapes. By integrating artificial intelligence into proprietary products and maintaining a flexible, mid-sized workforce, the company positions itself well to capture steady public sector and energy tech spending. Joint ventures and targeted product scaling will remain crucial strategic levers as they pursue their targeted growth trajectory over the coming years." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
