Gold prices saw a downward trend across multiple cities in India on September 2. The national baseline for 22-carat gold stood at ₹14,251 for 1 gram, marking a decrease of ₹214, while 8 grams of 22-carat gold was recorded at ₹1,14,008, down by ₹1,712.
Regional markets registered varying degrees of price corrections. In Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam, Madurai, and Vijayawada, 22-carat gold dropped to ₹13,950 per gram—a decline of ₹435—while 8 grams fell by ₹3,480 to ₹1,11,600. Correspondingly, 24-carat gold in these cities decreased by ₹456 to ₹14,648 for 1 gram, and by ₹3,648 to ₹1,17,184 for 8 grams.
In Nagpur and Indore, 22-carat gold was priced at ₹14,265 per gram, down by ₹170, and 8 grams dropped by ₹1,360 to ₹1,14,120. The 24-carat gold in these locations decreased by ₹179 to ₹14,978 for 1 gram and ₹1,19,824 for 8 grams.
Cities including Surat, Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Vadodara experienced similar downward movements. In Surat, Jaipur, and Vadodara, 22-carat gold was recorded at ₹14,319 per gram (down by ₹170), with 8 grams priced at ₹1,14,552 (down by ₹1,360). Their 24-carat counterparts stood at ₹15,035 per gram, showing a reduction of ₹178.
Meanwhile, Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Ludhiana saw 22-carat gold at ₹14,315 per gram (down by ₹170) and 8 grams at ₹1,14,520 (down by ₹1,360). For 24-carat gold in these three cities, 1 gram was priced at ₹15,031, down by ₹178, and 8 grams at ₹1,20,248, down by ₹1,424.
Bhubaneswar and Patna recorded 22-carat gold at ₹14,365 per gram (down by ₹170) and 8 grams at ₹1,14,920 (down by ₹1,360). The 24-carat gold in Bhubaneswar and Patna was priced at ₹15,083 for 1 gram (down by ₹179) and ₹1,20,664 for 8 grams (down by ₹1,432).
In Thrissur, 22-carat gold dropped by ₹170 to ₹1,421 per gram—recorded specifically at ₹14,215 for 1 gram and ₹1,13,720 for 8 grams. The 24-carat rate in Thrissur stood at ₹14,926 for 1 gram (down by ₹178) and ₹1,19,408 for 8 grams (down by ₹1,424).
Kanpur reported prices identical to Lucknow and Chandigarh, with 22-carat at ₹14,315 per gram and 24-carat at ₹15,031 per gram. Finally, Mysore noted 22-carat gold at ₹14,325 per gram (down by ₹170) and 8 grams at ₹1,14,600 (down by ₹1,360), while 24-carat gold stood at ₹15,041 per gram (down by ₹179) and ₹1,20,328 for 8 grams (down by ₹1,432).
