IT services major Infosys confirmed on Friday that Lax Gopisetty, President and Chief Executive Officer of its subsidiary Infosys Public Services, Inc., is currently not reachable following devastating floods in Nepal.
According to the Bengaluru-headquartered company, Gopisetty was visiting the region in a personal capacity. Infosys stated that its immediate priority is to ensure his safety and well-being, and it is actively working with relevant agencies to gather information and establish contact.
The company also noted that it remains in close communication with Gopisetty's family, providing all necessary support during this period. "Our thoughts are with Lax and all those affected by this tragedy," Infosys said in a statement, expressing deep sadness over the devastating floods and tragic loss of lives in Nepal.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported on Friday that at least 320 Indians remain missing and 400 others are stranded on the Chinese side following flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border. Meanwhile, the MEA confirmed that 153 Indian nationals stranded on the Chinese side have safely crossed over to Nepal, and 21 Indians arrived in New Delhi after reaching Kathmandu from the affected areas.
Lax Gopisetty leads Infosys Public Services, which focuses primarily on the public sector in the US and Canada. His professional background includes advising public sector organizations on strategy, technology, operations, and transformation. Prior to his current role, Gopisetty served as a Global Vice President at Infosys and held leadership positions at Accenture, BearingPoint, IBM, PwC, and HCL.
