Lalithaa Jewellery Mart shares listed at ₹265, marking a 32 per cent premium over the IPO price before ending with a 24 per cent gain. Meanwhile, Blackstone-backed Horizon Industrial Parks experienced a muted debut, closing below its IPO price of ₹60.

Shares of Lalithaa Jewellery Mart made a strong debut on the stock exchanges on Monday, listing at ₹265, which marked a 32 per cent premium over the IPO price of ₹201. The stock eventually closed at ₹248.44 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), registering a gain of 24 per cent.

In contrast, Blackstone-backed Horizon Industrial Parks had a subdued start, closing with a loss of over 3 per cent. The stock settled at ₹58.16 on the NSE and ₹57.95 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), compared to its IPO price of ₹60.

The initial public offering (IPO) of Lalithaa Jewellery Mart received strong investor demand, securing an overall subscription of 62.97 times. NSE data showed that the issue received bids for 395.22 crore shares against 6.27 crore shares on offer.

Ahead of the public issue, the company raised ₹508 crore from anchor investors, including institutional names such as Goldman Sachs, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, and Bandhan Mutual Fund. The price band for the IPO was set at ₹190 to ₹201 per share.

The public offering comprised a fresh issue of up to ₹1,200 crore alongside an offer-for-sale of up to ₹500 crore. At the upper price band, the IPO valued the company at a post-issue market capitalisation of approximately ₹17,298 crore. The company intends to utilise the proceeds from the fresh issue primarily to fund the opening of new stores and to repay borrowings.

Lalithaa Jewellery Mart traces its origins to 1985, when it opened its first store in Chennai’s T Nagar. The company operates in the retail sector, selling gold, silver, and diamond jewellery.

Market analysts noted that while Lalithaa Jewellery's debut reflects robust investor interest and high capital efficiency with a return on equity (ROE) exceeding 41 per cent, certain risks remain. Key concerns highlighted by experts include negative operating cash flow of around ₹397.7 crore in FY26, a ₹1,066 crore GST dispute, and promoter-related matters.

For Horizon Industrial Parks, market observers pointed out that despite the muted listing, the company maintains strong fundamentals. It features a committed occupancy of 93.56 per cent across 118 enterprise tenants, with Fortune 500 companies occupying 54.05 per cent of its leased space. The company reported an EBITDA margin of around 79.16 per cent for FY26, and planned debt reduction using IPO proceeds is expected to enhance its financial flexibility.

"The contrasting market debuts of Lalithaa Jewellery and Horizon Industrial Parks highlight how investor sentiment varies across sectors. Lalithaa Jewellery's strong subscription and listing gains demonstrate sustained consumer retail demand and healthy capital efficiency, though regulatory and cash flow risks require careful monitoring. Meanwhile, infrastructure and industrial parks continue to attract attention due to high occupancy rates and institutional backing, even when initial listings face short-term pricing pressures. Founders and investors must balance strong fundamentals with transparent risk management when entering public markets." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
