Lumino Industries Ltd’s initial public offering opened for public subscription on Thursday, recording an overall subscription of 1.42 times by the end of the first day of bidding. The opening day demand was primarily driven by retail investors and non-institutional investors, whereas qualified institutional buyer participation remained subdued.

The public issue consists of a fresh issue of ₹500 crore alongside an offer for sale amounting to ₹200 crore. According to the company's IPO documents, the proceeds generated from the fresh issue are largely allocated towards debt repayment, with ₹337 crore earmarked for this purpose. Additionally, ₹15 crore has been designated for capital expenditure requirements.

Established in 2005, Lumino Industries operates in the electrical manufacturing and infrastructure sectors. The company is engaged in the manufacturing of conductors, power cables, and electrical wires. Beyond manufacturing, it also executes engineering, procurement, and construction projects across power transmission, solar energy, and railway electrification.

Financial details indicate that the company's manufacturing segment contributed approximately 69.7 per cent of its revenue for FY26, with the EPC segment accounting for the remainder. For the same financial period, Lumino Industries reported a total revenue of ₹2,041 crore and a profit after tax of ₹160 crore.

Market participants continue to monitor the subscription trends across various investor categories as the bidding process progresses over the coming days.

"The opening day of Lumino Industries' IPO highlights a familiar pattern where retail and non-institutional investors show immediate enthusiasm, while institutional buyers take a more measured approach. With a significant portion of the fresh issue proceeds earmarked for debt reduction, the company's strategy to strengthen its balance sheet will be a key factor watched closely by market participants. As the bidding window proceeds, institutional participation will likely determine the ultimate trajectory and valuation realization of the public offering." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
