Mahindra Truck and Bus has introduced the BLAZO i-TRK heavy commercial vehicle featuring a 320 HP engine and an AI-enabled automatic drive mode. The company states the new model can deliver up to 10 percent better fuel efficiency.

Mahindra Truck and Bus has launched its new-generation heavy commercial vehicle, the BLAZO i-TRK. The vehicle is equipped with a 320 HP engine and an artificial intelligence-enabled automatic drive mode, according to an announcement made by the company on Monday.

The entire BLAZO i-TRK range is powered by a 7.2-litre mPOWER engine that delivers 320 HP and 1,100 Nm of torque. A key feature of the truck is the company's patented iFuelSmart automatic drive mode. This system continuously analyses road gradients, payload weights, and driving requirements to automatically select an optimum driving mode, aimed at improving fuel efficiency.

During the unveiling event, the company stated that the heavy vehicle could achieve up to 10 percent better fuel efficiency compared to standard operations. Furthermore, the firm noted that the truck has the potential to generate up to Rs 15 lakh in additional profit per vehicle over a five-year period through fuel savings and enhanced operational efficiency.

Speaking at the launch, Vinod Sahay, President of Mahindra Truck and Bus, highlighted the changing landscape of the industry. He noted that India's freight and logistics sector is entering a new phase where technology, reliability, and operational efficiency will increasingly dictate market competitiveness.

"Our ambition is not only to build better trucks but also to shape the future of commercial mobility through innovation and strong customer partnerships," Sahay said during the event. He reiterated that the BLAZO i-TRK offers a tangible financial advantage, citing the projected profit increase of up to Rs 15 lakh per truck over five years relative to other heavy commercial vehicles in the market.

The launch reflects ongoing efforts by commercial vehicle manufacturers to integrate advanced technology and automation into heavy transport fleets, focusing on long-term operating costs and efficiency for fleet operators.

"The integration of AI-driven automation in heavy commercial vehicles marks an important shift toward efficiency-focused logistics in India. Fleet operators increasingly evaluate capital assets based on total cost of ownership and long-term operational savings. Technology features that directly address fuel consumption and payload optimization provide a measurable competitive edge in the freight sector." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
