Online travel company MakeMyTrip has partnered with Axis Bank to offer travel discounts to credit card holders during long weekends and peak holiday periods. The arrangement runs through March 2027 and covers flights, hotels, and holiday packages.

NEW DELHI — Online travel platform MakeMyTrip and Axis Bank announced a strategic partnership on Monday to offer exclusive travel discounts to Axis Bank credit card holders. The collaboration is scheduled to run through March 2027 and targets travel during long weekends and peak holiday periods.

Under the terms of the arrangement, customers booking travel through the MakeMyTrip platform and paying with an eligible Axis Bank credit card will receive a flat 10 per cent instant discount on domestic flights, which is capped at ₹1,800. Additionally, cardholders can avail of up to 15 per cent off on domestic hotel bookings, capped at ₹5,000.

The partnership also extends benefits to holiday packages, offering an additional 5 per cent instant discount over and above MakeMyTrip’s existing offers, with a cap of ₹20,000. Similar discount structures and benefits will apply to international flights, international hotels, buses, cabs, and tours and attractions.

The promotional programme is structured around eight specific long weekend periods. It begins with Gandhi Jayanti from October 2 to October 4, 2026, and runs through Good Friday from March 26 to March 28, 2027. The schedule also covers Dussehra, Diwali, Christmas, New Year, Republic Day, and Holi. According to the companies, a dedicated booking window will open ahead of each holiday period, allowing users to view offer details directly at checkout on the MakeMyTrip application and website.

Raj Rishi Singh, Chief Operating Officer for Flights, Corporate, GCC and Marketing at MakeMyTrip, stated that the partnership is designed to deliver immediate value precisely when a traveller is making a booking decision. Vinit Bajaj, Group Head for Acquiring and Cards at Axis Bank, noted that long weekends have increasingly become significant travel opportunities, and the tie-up aims to make travel planning more rewarding for the bank's cardholders.

Industry observers note that this collaboration reflects a broader consumer trend toward taking more frequent short breaks rather than relying on fewer, longer annual holidays. MakeMyTrip operates several prominent travel brands, including Goibibo and redBus, while Axis Bank maintains a large domestic presence with over 6,295 branches across India.

Full terms and conditions for the offers, including minimum booking values, will be published on the MakeMyTrip platform ahead of each designated booking window.

"Strategic partnerships between large financial institutions and consumer platforms represent a strong model for customer acquisition and retention. By aligning credit card rewards with high-frequency consumer behaviours like short-break travel, brands can effectively capture consumer spending during peak holiday periods. This collaboration between MakeMyTrip and Axis Bank highlights how established companies leverage co-branded benefits to drive transaction volumes and address changing consumer preferences in the domestic market." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
