NIA Conducts Raids at 10 Locations in Jammu and Kashmir in Cross-Border Terror Conspiracy Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at 10 locations across Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday in connection with a cross-border terror conspiracy.

The raids were carried out across the Srinagar, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama, and Budgam districts. According to the anti-terror agency, the searches were aimed at securing documentary, digital, and material evidence regarding the conspiracy, as well as ascertaining the roles of individuals associated with the local support network.

The case was registered earlier this year by the NIA under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967, the Arms Act of 1959, and the Explosive Substances Act of 1908. Proceedings were initiated following the late-night arrest of an Over Ground Worker (OGW) allegedly linked to the proscribed terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) on March 31 at a check point. A hand grenade and live ammunition were recovered during that arrest. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Pakistani terrorists allegedly connected to the conspiracy and helped identify members of the local support network.

The NIA stated that investigations thus far indicate linkages between Pakistan-based handlers and local associates. These local associates were allegedly utilized for communication, logistical arrangements, the movement and concealment of terrorists, the provision of shelter, reconnaissance, and other facilitation tasks.

Authorities are examining the financial trail, communication channels, the movement of the accused, and the sources of arms and explosives to establish the complete network and the extent of its activities. The central agency noted that further legal action, including potential arrests and recoveries, will depend on the ongoing investigation outcomes as evidence is examined and corroborated.
