Panasonic Life Solutions India CEO and Managing Director Yoshiyuki Kato reaffirmed the company's long-term commitment to India at the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026. The executive highlighted the company's manufacturing footprint and potential growth opportunities in Uttar Pradesh.

MUMBAI — Panasonic Life Solutions India has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the Indian market at the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026. Yoshiyuki Kato, CEO and Managing Director of the company, outlined the firm's Make in India ecosystem and its vision to deepen its operational contributions within Uttar Pradesh during a CXO roundtable discussion.

According to the company, Uttar Pradesh represents an important part of its future growth trajectory in India. Panasonic has identified potential opportunities to expand its presence across distribution, services, and smart infrastructure within the state as its manufacturing ecosystem continues to develop.

The company's operations in India are supported by a localized manufacturing network consisting of seven facilities across the country. These plants produce hundreds of millions of electrical products annually to serve both domestic and international markets, with exports reaching South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Discussing future operational strategy, Kato noted that as Uttar Pradesh strengthens its industrial base, the company will evaluate opportunities to support its operations across central and eastern India over the long term.

In addition to manufacturing expansion, sustainability remains a core component of Panasonic's corporate strategy. Under its global Panasonic GREEN IMPACT initiative, the company aims to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions across all operating companies globally by fiscal year 2030.

Domestically, all seven of Panasonic's Indian manufacturing facilities are equipped with functional rooftop solar power systems. These installations feature a combined installed capacity of 5.2 MW and contributed to a reduction of approximately 5,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions during the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Looking ahead, Panasonic aims to participate in India's broader infrastructure development through its offerings in electrical solutions, solar solutions, smart energy systems, and intelligent infrastructure, supporting ongoing investments in buildings, factories, and urban expansion.

Panasonic first entered the Indian market in 1972, establishing a presence spanning over five decades. Following its acquisition of Anchor in 2007, the company has continued to invest in domestic manufacturing capabilities, talent development, and job creation across the country.

"The long-term commitment shown by established global enterprises like Panasonic highlights the strength of India's manufacturing and infrastructure sectors. For the broader business ecosystem, scaling operations regionally while integrating sustainable practices like solar power and net-zero targets demonstrates a balanced approach to industrial growth. Companies looking to expand in emerging manufacturing hubs must focus on localizing production and aligning with regional development goals to achieve sustainable success." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
