Backed by marquee investors like Binny Bansal and prominent celebrities, luxury fashion powerhouse Purple Style Labs (PSL)—parent company of Pernia’s Pop-Up Shops—is scaling its international footprint with a new Experience Centre in New York, following phenomenal revenue surges and a robust $420 million valuation.

NEW DELHI / MUMBAI — Purple Style Labs (PSL), the powerhouse parent company behind the premier luxury fashion platform Pernia’s Pop-Up Shops (PPUS), is charting an aggressive global roadmap to take indigenous Indian designer fashion to international consumers. Buoyed by robust financial metrics, stellar top-line growth, and strategic international positioning, the company is expanding its physical and digital infrastructure, headlined by a soon-to-launch Experience Centre in New York.

Founded in 2015 by Abhishek Agarwal, an alumnus of IIT Bombay, PSL has evolved from an ambitious retail startup into a dominant force in the luxury e-commerce and experiential retail ecosystem. The watershed moment for the company arrived in 2018 when it acquired Pernia’s Pop-Up Shops. This strategic move granted PSL immediate access to an established e-commerce architecture and a curated network of over 500 Indian designer brands. Since then, the firm has systematically broadened its portfolio, which now proudly features legacy and contemporary designer brands including Wendell Rodricks and Hemant Trevedi. Today, the platform showcases an expansive catalog comprising over 1,300 active designer brands and exceeding 200,000 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs).

PSL's growth trajectory post-acquisition has been nothing short of extraordinary. The company has scaled the PPUS business by more than 50 times, with annual operating revenue skyrocketing from ₹45 crore in FY20 to an impressive ₹500 crore-plus by FY24. This hyper-growth is further underscored by the platform's widening global footprint. In FY25, international markets contributed a substantial 28 per cent to the total Gross Merchandise Value (GMV). Breaking down the global demand, the United States leads the international charge at 16.55 per cent, followed by the United Kingdom at 6.28 per cent and other global markets capturing 5.55 per cent. Overall, the platform actively serves discerning luxury consumers across more than 100 countries, anchored digitally and supported by its established physical footprint in London.

Complementing its geographical expansion is a deeply entrenched, high-value customer base. The average order value (AOV) on the platform has witnessed a sharp upward climb, moving from ₹39,499 to ₹56,106. Industry metrics reveal that the platform's elite top 50,000 customers account for an overwhelming 96 per cent of the total GMV, highlighting the ultra-premium positioning of PSL's clientele. To support its aggressive omnichannel expansion—which includes scaling both its digital infrastructure and high-street Experience Centres—PSL has successfully raised more than $95 million in funding from elite venture capitalists and prominent angel investors, commanding a solid market valuation of approximately $420 million.

Significantly, PSL’s cap table reads like a veritable who's who of business and entertainment icons. The company is backed by industry luminaries including Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal, alongside Bollywood megastars Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and his family, Madhuri Dixit, and designer Masaba Gupta, alongside cricketing legends Sachin Tendulkar and Suryakumar Yadav. This formidable coalition of financial backers and cultural ambassadors has provided PSL with both unmatched strategic leverage and brand equity.

The timing of PSL’s global push aligns seamlessly with broader macroeconomic trends within the domestic luxury segment. According to a comprehensive report by 1Lattice, India’s burgeoning luxury market is projected to expand dramatically, scaling from ₹1,350 billion in FY25 to an estimated ₹2,314 billion by FY30. As affluent global consumers increasingly seek out intricate craftsmanship, sustainable luxury, and avant-garde ethnic and fusion wear, Purple Style Labs is exceptionally well-positioned to bridge the gap between traditional Indian heritage artistry and international modern luxury retail.

"Purple Style Labs represents a masterclass in scaling niche luxury retail through a disciplined omnichannel strategy. By successfully acquiring, integrating, and globally positioning Pernia’s Pop-Up Shops, Abhishek Agarwal and his team have unlocked the immense international potential inherent in Indian designer fashion. The luxury consumer of today demands an immersive experiential journey, and PSL’s aggressive expansion into global fashion capitals like London and now New York proves that Indian high-fashion platforms can successfully compete on the world stage. Furthermore, capturing 28 percent of its GMV from international markets demonstrates a mature business model that is primed to capitalize on the explosive growth of the global luxury diaspora. At StartupLanes, we view PSL not just as a retail success story, but as a pioneer validating the scalability of Indian creative entrepreneurship globally." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
